After an offseason of preparation and hard work, the North Forsyth Raiders baseball team is ready to hit the field for the 2025-2026 season. When asked about his expectations, Assistant Coach Hayden Martin offered a glimpse on what fans and players can anticipate this year.
Standout performances against West Forsyth highlighted the Raiders’ potential last season that energized players and fans alike–despite falling short on some goals. Statistically, Martin noted, “On the mound and defensively, we met the expectations we set. However, we fell short in a few games due to inconsistency at the plate.”
“The biggest improvement came in the team’s mindset,” Martin said, “Players focused more on supporting one another and working toward collective goals rather than individual achievements.”
Building on last season’s triumphs, certain players consistently elevated the team’s performance. Brady Holbrook, Brayden Weems, Brayden Seabol and Ozzie Patterson were key standouts, providing leadership and energy in both action and preparation. “The entire team showed meaningful growth. At this point, any one of them is capable of making a difference in any given game,” Martin said. Returning players such as Seth Dixon, Ellis Alldredge and Jace Cahill are anticipated to make significant contributions this season, while several juniors and sophomores step into larger roles.
Looking ahead to the 2025-2026 season, the Raiders have set clear goals for themselves. “Our primary goal is to make the playoffs and then push as far as we possibly can,” Martin noted. Building on a season’s successes are a necessity, and the team plans to carry forward the lessons learned from past difficulties. “We’ll continue to remind players how our responses to adversity last season shaped the outcomes of key games. Carrying the same resilience forward will be crucial,” he added.
The Raiders are anticipating a season full of high-energy competitions, especially against regional opponents. “All of our region matchups are exciting. With every opponent being in the county, they all feel like rivalry games each week,” Martin said, noting that the players’ positive mindset and attitude will fuel their performances in these high-stake games.
Beyond the physical aspects of baseball, Martin highlighted the life lessons the sport teaches. “Baseball teaches countless life lessons, but the most important is learning how to respond to failure. This sport can humble you quickly, and your reaction to setbacks affects not only you but your entire team,” He adds. “Maintain a positive mindset, move past adversity quickly and your team will grow stronger because of it.”
