Finding Yourself in the Past

An adolescent is standing in front of a flourishing forest. This represents how outward appearances do not completely tell the onlooker what is beneath the outer covering, no matter the age you are. You are not too young to experience the astonishing hardships of life, nor to try to cover those feelings. What the forest looks like from the outside and what is contained inside are poles apart.

when one stands amid the face

of the gardens dreaded grace

beneath the branches

that have been pleasantly laid

the truth and memories

begin to fade

when one stands amid the brush

the essence of life seems quite lush

underneath the branches

you will find

a piece of everything

that had been left behind

when one goes back to that time

where all things were aligned

and opens their eyes

and looks into their self

one will find that they

are content with nobody else
