Falling Asleep
20 minutes of counting sheep
One sheep, two sheep, three
Over the fence and through the cloud
Attempting to fall asleep
Not as easy as it seems
Laying in bed for eternity
Wondering when peace will come
Envisioning my approaching dreams
Trying to find my inner calm
Blankets pulled up
Pillows fluffed
Humming a solemn psalm
Sleepiness climbing
While the stars glisten
The cat meows
The moon smiling
Feeling my eyes shut tight
Letting rest swaddle
Warm and bundled
Finally, my goodnight
