In Their Name: A Day of Honor
“Serving in the military is a privilege!” Major Kelly said.
Have you ever heard the phrase the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month? The majority of the people who have don’t know that it originates from the signing of the armistice between the allied forces and Germany after World War I on November 11, 1918. President Wilson proclaimed the day as the first Armistice Day, now called Veteran’s Day, to show proper support, appreciation, and gratitude for the heroic acts of our nation’s military service.
North Forsyth High School is blessed with veterans and veteran spouses who have sacrificed for and contributed to our country. Their selfless acts, courage, and bravery have made America the land of dreams, opportunity, and freedom.
Teens for Troops and Patriots alongside the Future Educators Association work together to honor the veterans and veteran spouses at NFHS each year, and last year, T4TP and FEA hosted a delicious lunch. However, with a tight budget, T4TP and FEA knew they would not be able to show their appreciation and gratitude in the manner they would like. They reached out to other clubs and organizations at NFHS and allowed them to claim a veteran to support. With the help of the clubs and organizations, T4TP and FEA were able to successfully raise funds needed to celebrate our veterans in the way they envisioned.
Thanks to all of the veterans for their dedication, sacrifice, and heroism!
