On Nov. 7, the North Forsyth High School Latin Club held their second Mario Kart Tournament in the library from 4:30-6:30 p.m. to raise money and support for future events. And, of course, have fun.

Last year, the Mario Club was also a big hit. It was held in the cafeteria in 2017, but in order to lessen the chaos and confusion, this year’s race was held in the library.

There was a total of 24 people who participated in the Mario Kart competition and each race was one contestant against the other, making 12 racing groups for the first round. By the end of the tournament, there was one group of finalist containing three participants.

Junior Cara Cobb, Sophomore Jonah Wagner and Freshman JD Nieman competed in a 1 v.s. 1 v.s. 1 format for three total races. In the end, Wagner won the tournament, and he received a $25 gamestop gift card and all the glory that came with it.

Next spring, the club will be hosting their Super Smash Bros tournament. If it is anything like this year’s Mario Kart Tournament, it is bound to be a blast.
