With summer being just a few weeks away, many students and their families are planning their trips, camps and activities for the holiday. There are so many things to do and so many places to go that can make deciding what to do a difficult task. Here is a list of 10 things you and your friends and families can do this upcoming summer break to make the most of your vacation.

1. Camping

For those who are in love with nature and the outdoors, camping is a great way to bond with friends and family while also enjoying everything nature has to offer. There are many forests to explore and waterfalls to see. Many state parks offer campsites with amenities all around the state. You can find more information here.

2. Strawberry Picking

Summer means strawberry season, so what better way to get your strawberries than by picking them yourself? Throughout Georgia and Forsyth County, some farms let you come pick the strawberries yourself for a small price. One local farm in Forsyth County is Warbington Farms. They provide strawberries for the public to come and pick.

3. Ride Bikes

Whether it’s around the neighborhood or on the greenway, riding bikes is a great way to spend time with friends and family, enjoying the fresh air and getting lots of exercise all at the same time. If you are someone who loves nature and loves to be in the forest, trail biking is a great option as well.

4. Bake Sales

A bake sale is a great way to make some money, meet new people and learn a new hobby of baking. Baking can be a fun family activity or a way to bond with friends. For those who love to bake, this is a great way to use your passion to make some cash before school starts back up.

5. Host a Pool Party

In the summer heat, you can find most people at the pool, so why not make it a party? This can be a great way to bring friends and family together for a summer activity. If a party doesn’t appeal to you, inviting friends to hang out by the pool is another way to enjoy the cool water with the people you love.

6. Go to an Amusement Park

Parks such as Six Flags and White Water are great ways to spend your summer with friends and family. Not only can you enjoy the summer weather, but you can also spend your time exploring the parks and going on heart-racing rides. Before you go, it may be wise to check with the park’s COVID-19 restrictions and changes.

7. Attend an Outdoor Concert

There are many places, such as those in Downtown Atlanta that host live outdoor concerts on weekends. It is important to do your research on who is performing and where to make the experience more enjoyable.

8. Go to the Beach

Going to the beach is a traditional way to spend summer vacation; however, if beach-going isn’t the typical way you spend your time, why not give it a go? Invite some friends or just go with family, either way, you can enjoy your summer in the open waters.

9. Sprinklers!

Setting up sprinklers in your backyard is a water activity that only requires a hose and a sprinkler. Running around through the water is a great way to spend time cooling off from the summer heat with your friends and siblings. If you don’t have a local pool, sprinklers are a great water activity alternative.

10. Go Hiking

There are many local trails to go exploring and relax in mother nature. If you want to see views at the top of the mountain, North Georgia has many hiking trails to enjoy. This is great for those who want to spend time with nature whether alone or with family and friends.

Summer vacation is a great time to explore nature and try new hobbies. If you are unsure where to begin, this list of ideas can get your summer vacation started.
